An empty-box chargeback is a fight about what was inside. The photo that matters is the one taken before the tape, not the one made after the argument.
On 3 November 2026, Chargeflow published a note on empty-box chargebacks. Two shapes: the buyer says the parcel arrived empty or short, or the return comes back empty. They also note that Shopify Payments takes PDF, JPEG, and PNG, not video, with tight file limits. A packing video you cannot upload is not the file the bank will open.
I make Proof. I do not file chargebacks. I do not weigh the carton for the carrier.
What a pre-ship page can hold
- Specs in words. The piece, the count, any flaw you already named.
- Photos of this unit before the seal. Originals kept. SHA-256 on each file.
- Both Confirms by email. No app for the other side.
- One
/plink that turns read-only after both sides say yes.
That page is what you packed and what both of you confirmed. It does not follow the carton. A hash shows whether the stored file changed after upload. It does not prove the box was still full at the door, and it does not prove who held the camera. Capture time is whatever the phone reported. This is not notarization.
Why the later photo is a different argument
An empty-box complaint is a new claim about a later moment. Treat it as a claim to check. A pick error and a swapped return can look the same in a chat. A screenshot cropped after the fact is a different file from the one you stored.
